This was an installation of an 8ft tall 17ft wide 230ft long single closed end (SCE) AquaDam. To install the 8ft tall SCE AquaDam its starting bank needed additional height added, so a soil berm was constructed at the edge of the pond. A SCE AquaDam requires a bank to keep its starting point (open end) higher in elevation than the body of the AquaDam. The open end and fill-tubes of a SCE AquaDam must be elevated higher than the full height of dam along its given path. An AquaDam will only reach its full height at the lowest elevation along its given path.
The pressure from the water as its pumped into the fill-tubes causes the AquaDam to unroll. Water pumps are pumping water into the fill-tubes of the AquaDam. The increasing water pressure inside causes the rolled-up portion of AquaDam to unroll.
The open end of the SCE AquaDam was tied back to unmovable objects (anchors) on shore to prevent it from moving, while the unit is being filled with water.
Ropes were attached to the outside edge of the AquaDam and to an excavator back on shore to pull the dam into a horseshoe/”U” shape configuration.
It was imperative to miss the intake pipe that is behind the worker standing there. Twelve million gallons of water needed to pass through this pipe every 24 hours.
Workers needed to pull the roll end of the 8ft tall SCE AquaDam onto the shoreline so that it would meet its ending bank at a perpendicular angle. An AquaDam should meet both the starting and ending banks at a perpendicular angle.

The 230ft long AquaDam has unrolled up its ending bank and will continue to unroll until it hits the added soil berm that the excavator is on.

The work area after isolation and before de-watering.
The 8ft tall AquaDam is full and now the work area can be de-watered.
he work area has de-watered at least three feet in depth.
The work area completely de-watered.
Fantastic job AquaDam!
Alligators can be a job hazard if you must be in the water. Using ropes to unroll an AquaDam is one way to avoid getting into the water.
Prior to the installation of the AquaDam, an alligator was wondering around investigating the visitors that had come to its home.
