Two ponds needed to be connected for drainage. The job called for the installation of two culverts in the berm separating the two ponds. A concrete footing also had to be constructed to prevent scouring and erosion.
One 4ft tall 9ft wide 100ft long single closed end (SCE) AquaDam was installed on the North side of the berm.
Another 4ft tall AquaDam was placed on the other side of the berm to isolate the work area. The work area was then de-watered using portable water pumps.
The berm had to be excavated out so that the culverts could be installed. The contract called for a dry work area because concrete footings needed to be poured. Water quality prohibited the use of earthen fill material to form the cofferdam.
Once the work area was isolated, the water was pumped out, and the concrete footings were poured. Once the concrete was finished, the AquaDams were removed with no detrimental impact to the surrounding aquatic life.
