.) Both banks of each of the bridges needed pier repairs.
.) A suitable location was chosen to start the AquaDam. Large boulders and obstructions had to be moved.
.) This 5ft tall 11ft wide (full) 100ft long single closed end (SCE) AquaDam was tied back to the trees and installed starting far up the bank, running out into the river, and making a left turn underneath the bridge. The starting point (open end) and fill-tubes of a SCE AquaDam must be elevated higher than the full height of dam along its given path. An AquaDam will only reach its full height at the lowest elevation along its given path.
.) The installation of the first AquaDam started high up the bank as shown in the last picture. The AquaDam unrolled due to the pressure of the water being pumped inside. The crew keeps the AquaDam from unrolling prematurely or letting the river current move it out of place.
.) A second section of AquaDam has been attached to the first using a connection collar. Notice the 12-18-inch difference in elevation between one side of the AquaDam and the other. You can tell the water depth differences by looking at the workers standing in the water.
.) This picture is from the opposite side of the river. Both sides were installed on the same day. Notice again the extreme difference between one side of the AquaDam and the other. You can tell the water depth differences by looking at the workers standing in the water.
.) The water depth that needs to be controlled is along the outside edge of the AquaDam. In this case, the AquaDam will be sitting on a hillside when full which will help support the AquaDam. The slope of the river channel from one side of the AquaDam to the other is dramatic.
.) This shows the full AquaDam cofferdam system on one side of the river isolating the bank.
.) The work area is being pumped out. Both sides of the river’s banks were dammed off so that the work site was isolated in one workday.
.) Two AquaDams were connected to make one continuous dam.
.) This dam consisted of three AquaDams joined end to end using two connection collars. The two fill-tubes in the foreground extended up through the connection collars. They are always several feet longer so that they rise above the height of the installed AquaDam.
.) The cofferdams on both sides of the river have been installed, completely isolating the work areas. The water flow is maintained in the middle of the river. The AquaDam installation was completed in only one day.
