.) The location where three AquaDams will be installed to block off Walnut Creek in City of Industry California. One of the AquaDams has been laid out on its starting bank, the white roll. AquaDams are shipped rolled-up like a carpet roll, wrapped in a protective covering, and have lifting ropes/straps.
.) One AquaDam has been mostly unrolled and laid out in the desired path, now it needs to be filled with water.
.) Another AquaDam has been laid out and is being filled up with water.
.) The AquaDam cofferdam system has been laid out and each dam is either full or almost fully filled.
.) Here we can see a starting bank of one of the AquaDams. This unit was a single closed end (SCE) AquaDam, and we are looking at the starting point (open end), which is where it is filled with water. The open end and fill-tubes of a SCE AquaDam must be elevated higher than the full height of dam along its given path. An AquaDam will only reach its full height at the lowest elevation along its given path.
.) Here we can see the entire cofferdam system extending all the way across Walnut Creek.
.) This AquaDam cofferdam system is up and working great.
.) After all the work had been done the cofferdam system was no longer needed and so workers removed the AquaDams. Workers placed suction hoses into the fill-tubes to remove as much of the water inside the AquaDam as possible. The fill-tubes can also be lowered to allow the water to roll out.
.) When removing an AquaDam it is best to use a beam or log to re-roll the unit back onto. Workers here used ratchets and brackets on the ends of the beam used to re-roll the AquaDam. Additional workers pushed on the roll end to aid the re-rolling process.
.) It is important to keep the roll as tight as possible while re-rolling to help remove all the water.
.) Here we can see that the pumps are sucking water out at the same time as the workers are re-rolling. Any water left inside will add to weight and bulkiness.
.) The workers have successfully re-rolled the AquaDam.
.) A crane removes the re-rolled AquaDam out of the creek.
.) The next two AquaDam are ready to be re-rolled and removed.
.) The second AquaDam has been re-rolled with the ratchets and bracket. This unit was short compared to the other two.
.) Workers wrapped a protective covering around the rolled up AquaDam and are adding lifting ropes for transporting it.
.) The third and last AquaDam is being re-rolled, just like the first one.
.) Workers are almost done re-rolling the last AquaDam. Taking time and care while re-rolling will increase the chances of reuse.
.) Workers have successfully re-rolled all the AquaDams.
