Workers used boards to secure the fill-tubes of the SCE AquaDams, preventing water from draining out. In this setup, three of the four AquaDams were inserted into a connection collar at the closed end of a preceding dam. This collar not only creates a more secure connection but also extends the overall length of the cofferdam. For optimal performance, connections should be made several feet away from any turns.

Four 3ft tall, 7ft wide (when fully filled), 100ft long Single Closed-End (SCE) AquaDams were connected together to isolate a work area, ensuring that the adjoining wetlands were protected during remediation efforts by an oil refinery in Martinez, California. These AquaDams were installed and remained in place for over a year.
