Aqua Dam® Inc. (ADI), in collaboration with E.S. Wagner Company (ESWC), successfully installed three large AquaDam® cofferdam systems to facilitate repairs to the seawalls protecting Perry’s Victory and International Peace Memorial in Put-in-Bay, Ohio.
First AquaDam® cofferdam system installed on the Southwestern portion of Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial.
Starting bank for the 10ft tall 21ft wide (fully filled) 450ft long SCE AquaDam® with no connection collar.
Ending bank for the 10ft tall 21ft wide (fully filled) 450ft long SCE AquaDam® up against the existing sea wall.
Second AquaDam® cofferdam system used to repair the sea wall on the Eastern portion of Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial.
Starting bank for the second AquaDam® cofferdam system. This unit was the first unit to go in and one of four (4) 14ft tall by 450ft long SCE AquaDams®.
Here is the first connection of two (2) 14ft tall 450ft long SCE AquaDams®. The connection provides a starting bank for the next AquaDam®, as well as an extension of linear length for the cofferdam. Connections must be supported.
The second connection of two (2) 14ft tall 450ft long SCE AquaDams®. Notice how the fill-tubes are simply lying on top of the previous unit and the connection collar stretches over next AquaDam®. This connection will eventually have a support AquaDam®, prior to de-watering the work area.
The final connection of the second AquaDam® cofferdam system.
The fourth 14ft tall by 450ft long SCE AquaDam® ended on a 12ft tall by 50ft long DCE AquaDam® with two connection collars. When a starting/ending bank is unavailable a DCE unit can be used.
Third and final AquaDam® cofferdam system used to repair the remaining sea wall on the Western portion of Perry’s Victory & International Peace Memorial.
The third AquaDam® cofferdam system needed to start off of the sea wall, so a 14ft tall by 80ft long DCE AquaDam® was used.
The next component to the AquaDam® cofferdam system was a 14ft tall by 180ft long DCE AquaDam®. There is an 8ft tall by 41ft long DCE AquaDam® in-between the two (2) 14ft tall AquaDams® shown. The 8ft tall unit was used to mitigate seepage at the gap.
This is the first connection of the third AquaDam® cofferdam system. A turn was made in this connection, creating a large amount of strain on the collar. Ropes were used to help strengthen the collar, almost like a tennis shoe lacing.
The last connection of the cofferdam system. This connection used a similar lacing technique to help with reinforcing the connection collar.
Here is the end of the third AquaDam® system where the last 14ft tall by 450ft long SCE AquaDam® was rolled up on top of a 10ft tall by 120ft long DCE AquaDam®. A 6ft tall 13ft wide (fully filled) by 25ft long DCE AquaDam® was squished into the inner corner to mitigate seepage.
