We moved into our house in 2012 and, as you can see, it is a paradise in the woods. In the first 3 years our road flooded several times, but the water never got close to the house. Memorial Day of 2015, after a very wet Spring, wet got a whopper of a storm that flooded the house with 9 inches of nasty water. With the blessing of our friends from church we were able to cut all the drywall and remove all of the ruined stuff in one day. The process of rebuilding took 3 months. We never wanted to go through that again. I looked into options to protect the house, including the AquaDam®, but decided I could build a removable flood wall for a fraction of the cost instead.
In 2019, we found out my system was a waste of money and effort and our house flooded again. After getting the house put back together this time, my wife and I decided to spend the money and get an AquaDam®. We drove to Houston to get it in 2020 to save freight since my parents live on the way and we could spend some time with them. It fit nicely in the back of my F150.
Since getting our AquaDam®, we have had several storms that looked like they might flood our house. The road has to flood to fill it since the creek on our property is too far from the house to use its water. The first 5 times I filled it, the water never touched the AquaDam®. In fact my neighbors liked when I set it up because it seemed like that meant none of us were going to flood. Each time I set it up and took it down, I made the process more efficient and have it down pretty good now. I made a trailer that I can unroll it from in a matter of minutes with my lawn mower. Draining it, drying it, and rolling it up take a lot longer, but much less time now than at first. A few weeks ago was the first time I had it filled and flood water touched it. It was only about 3 inches deep at the back of our house and did not even touch the AquaDam® in the front of the house.
The peace that comes with having the AquaDam® full and set it priceless. Knowing that the likelihood of a storm dropping enough water fast enough to go over the top of it is minimal, I can just relax and watch the water rise or go to bed and sleep which was not the case before having it. It is an amazing invention that is so simple yet so ingenious at the same time. We thank you for what you have done for us in allowing us to enjoy our piece of paradise without fear of flooding again.
